can't comment on other regions, but i don't think the new rules help anything in New England. the 3 field will be even more unbalanced and crowded. in the bigger races, there's a good chance that at least 25% of that field will be lapped and potentially pulled with the race getting faster at the front and slower at the back. that's not going to keep the racing "fair and fun" for a lot of folks.
glad to of master's age this year because being forced into New England's elite field isn't exactly what I'd call fair and fun either. not that 35+ is a walk in the park, but at least I'll get to finish a race.
