"I end up using my cross bike for road and gravel stuff.  I'm not a road racer so it really doesn't hold me back.   Its more about being too cheap to buy a dedicated road bike.  I do have a question though, any suggestions…"

"Rule of riding ruts: 1. don't go in em 1A if you DO find yourself in the rut, ride it out. At some point, the rut's going to end and you can pick a better line then. IOW don't try to just turn your front wheel and ride out of it.…"

"Get in one of the ruts and let it rip. Don't steer it too much, let the wheel float to some degree. Don't panic when you get some feedback from the wheel because you're hitting the edge of the rut. If there's a banking to the rut…"

"Since it's the easiest thing to do, flip the stem you have and don't forget to angle your handle bar up a bit.  Ride it and see.  Try to find a 1cm shorter stem to borrow and and ride that pos and neg and see how that…"

So last night I did my first training race after a long layoff from cross and had a blast, BUT I need to adjust my cockpit abit.  My cross bike fit is geared a bit toward the road side of things... which works fine on my own not super tech course, but on a real course, control was rough and I need to readjust. I have a long stem at a negative rise which I like (I'm tall with longish arms) and by no means a "contender".Do I- flip the stem to a positive rise?- size down in the stem and stay…See More
