The Alma Grand Prix of Cyclocross will kick off the 2014 'cross calendar on Saturday, September 6 in Michigan. This race will be part of the Tailwind series of races, which are professionally timed and USAC-sanctioned events. This year the race has moved from Ithaca to Alma (hence the Alma GP) but you may remember seeing the world famous Ithaca GP umbrella at the world championships in Louisville...

The course is currently under construction as we're in the process of reclaiming city land that hasn't been used in 20+ years. The venue was formerly an airport (closed in the early 1960's) before it served as the city's compost dumping grounds. The terrain is varied and the course is coming together nicely. Spy photos are up on the Facebook page; detailed race information is on the website.

As always, sponsorships at the Alma GP are top notch, including:

Eclipse Cycling (custom jerseys for all category winners)

Alma College

Alma Brewing Company (race packet pick up on Friday night, September 5)

Corset Shop Intimates

The Sufferfest

Ass Savers

Velocity USA (wheels) - SS winner takes home a set of wheels!

Mountain Khakis (women's sponsor)

TP Logos

Pro Gold Lubricants (pit sponsor)

Cyclocross Network (podcast and race announcer)

Seals, Tacia, Bartz, Zainea, and Whitmore

Kuat Racks

Flame Cycling

Terry's Cycle

Nite Rider

Cannondale

Backcountry Research

Wolf Tooth Components

Kore Fit

Hammer Nutrition

Bondi Band

Hotels are available as well as the option to stay at the Alma College alumni house, but those rooms fill up quickly. Packet pick up and late registration is available at the Alma Brewing Company in downtown Alma on Friday, September 5.

Any questions shoot me an e-mail, racepromoter at gmail dot com.

Hope you can make it!

A bit late, but I wished I could have gone: didn't have the gas to go from Detroit to Alma. T_T
