Hi-

So, I've done 4 races this year with Stans Iron Cross wheels, setup tubeless with Clement MXPs.

I weight 167 and have start with 24/26 lbs and have progressively moved up to 32/34 lbs.

Even this weekend, with 34 lbs in the rear, i lost enough air that I had to hit the pit to top off the tire. I measured the pressure post-race and my reading was 48 lbs- which exceeds Stan's 45 psi recommendation. So at this point, it seem my options are to run 42/44, and…

Does anyone know if the 45 lbs limit applies when you run tubes in a Stan's rim?

Anyone with similar experiences with Clement MXPs and tubeless? Any other thoughts / recommendations?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have a new Stans Iron Cross Comp wheelset with Kenda Small Block 8's tires in 700c x35. These are coming off a new bike and looking to swap for a Stans ZTR Grail wheelset or sell for $500.

The wheels are setup for Shimano 11 speed QR but other adapters are available from Stans. This is a Disc only wheelset and it comes with skewers, tubes and the valves for running tubeless. The wheelset doesn't include the rotors.

The Iron Cross wheelset runs tubeless up to 45psi only. The Grail wheelset can run higher pressures with road tires and I need this bike as a good all-rounder otherwise I would stick with the Iron Cross.

Location is Colorado but can ship.

Looking for a second set of wheels and have been very happy with my Iron Cross & Raven tires (norcal dryness). Even ran them at 16.5psi (I am 168lb) for a practice session when I let too much air out.

Anyways, I could just buy Iron Cross but the Grail sounds interesting and might be useful for using on gravel rides - although I normally have used my road bike with 25c tubeless on the mixed races (Grasshoppers) with success. On more gravel I would prolly need to use the cross bike…

On more gravel I would prolly need to use the cross bike but wondering if I would ever need that extra pressure reserve since I thought if was running a 35-40 tire on a long gravel ride I'd still be closer to 40psi max.

If there's no disadvantage to the Grail then it would be cool to have that ability.

so I'm gonna play some more with tubeless, and I'm curious to know what tires have you folks tried that have worked well, and which ones to avoid.

i've heard the mud2, raze, and some panaracer tires have worked well for folks, along with the hutchinson tires. any others that you've tried?
