Theres a CX frame contructed of Reynolds 853 available pretty reasonable. I love steel and would like to throw some parts on it. Will that build up a bike thats way too heavy?

How does the weight of 853 compare with Columbus SLX?

Thanks

I would determine what is too heavy for you.

I had a IF planet cross with DA10, steel fork, nothing on it carbon and not great wheels come in a 20lbs. I could have easliy taken off 3 pounds with high zoot wheels, carbon fork, and loads of carbon bits.

IF does 853 like a champ!
Thanks for the hints. I've always liked the look and the feel of a steel bike.

My semi old road bike is a bit on the heavy side but not so much as to be a burden.

There was an IF frame on Ebay yesterday. I asked the seller a question or two and never got an answer before the auction ended. Depending on the answers, I was going to jump all over that frame.
