So im going to be building a new cross rig for this year and had been planning on going with some campy 9 speed parts i scored cheap (record/chorus) and using it with a shimano/sram 9sp cassette and chain. I am starting to wonder if this is a bad i dea and i should sell the campy parts and just go with rival for not a lot more money. I like the 9spd idea case the chains and cassettes are cheaper and less likely to break, but im not sure how well the shifting will work and i also run sram on my road bike and shimano on my winter bike and am worried that having all three will result in a lot of missed shifts due to brain farts. has anyone done the 9 speed mixed setup with good results or have any advice?
