I ride a 56 Cannondale road frame...what size cross bike should I go with. 54 or 52?

I'd go with whichever has a top tube closest to but not longer than your road bike, assuming you have at least a little standover over either.

Awesome OTB racers would tell you to ride a 54.

I ride and I ride a 56 on the road.

2cm smaller is typically the rule. The strange thing is, my 54 OTB and CAAD 9 cdales are taller than my 55 road bike...but I attribute that to the beefier tires on the cross bikes.

52 would be too narrow in the wheelbase...you may get toe overlap with the 54 and you will certainly get a lot more with a 52.

Bike size

47-77.8 cm=30.6 inches

50-80.3 cm=31.6

52-81.3 cm =32.

54-82.3 cm=32.4

56-83.8 cm=32.9

58-85.5 cm=33.6

60-87.6 cm=34.4
