Again thanks for all the input. I shopped and shopped and what I ended up with was what was most comfortable and most affordable : The Bontrager RL Mountain shoe. It has the arch support system and a carbon sole. Again many thanks for all the help. I had a blast tearing down the deer trail I use for training. Tomorrow I'll post pictures of the new bike!

The Mavics sure look cool but I wish they weren't so narrow, especially in the toe box. It seems to be a common theme among cycling shoes. Its why I like Specialized ones. :/

I've had my Sidi's for two seasons and they're going strong. I don't remember which model they are, but they have the 3 velcro straps instead of the buckle.

I upgraded to these for this season. I have been using the BG Comps for the past few years and they have held up great and remain my training/mud shoes. The new ones have the same fit but feel a little lighter and stiffer.

Sidi Dominators are very popular and will last a long time but I just got an older pair of Specialized S-Works that I love. Make sure you try on many different shoes because they all vary in shape and size. What might be good for someone could be terrible for another.

I just use my old comutters for cross, Then replace those with new ones. Perfect broken in and no worries if they get mudded up.
