Hi everybody, after reading a couple of articles on cxmagazine.com i found this nice little forum. I thought an introduction, a couple of words and a picture of my ride would be appropriate :-)

I started riding cross this winther, so this is my first season. Normally i ride my roadbike, but lately i discovered the fun of taking it off-road. This resulted in putting CX tyres on my track wheels and squeezing them on my 26" MTB frame - the bike is only temporary but it turned out better than expected:

Setup:

- Klein Pulse II 16" MTB frame
- Token carbon forks
- Syncross seatpost with SLR saddle
- Sugino Mighty cranks with 34t ring  and heavy old SPD'z

- Navigators track wheelset with 16t cog and Continentel Speed King's
- 120 mm 3t Arx-team stem with FSA handlebars and Fi'zik tape
(fixed + brakeless FTW!)

I know the bike is silly, but it's fun to ride and it even got me a first place in the amateur class at my first CX race - further more the spectators love to see you try jumping the barriers whilst your cranks are spinning like crazy.

Cheers Oscar

Nice pics!

How's the dismount/remount?

In the beginning it was rather difficult, but i slowly got the grip of it.

-When dismounting i normally click out my right leg while pushing down my left, and when the left pedal reaches the lowest point i click out with the left foot (does that make sense?).

- When remounting i try to look as professional as possible :-), and after i landed on the saddle i just do whatever i can to catch the pedals with my feet (especially this is the difficult part).

4 out of 5 times this works pretty smooth

So on the dismount, are you bobbing up and down like a horse on a carousel?

Serious question.

In the begining i was, but now i am swinging my right leg over the saddle meanwhile i push the left pedal and then dismount the left foot when the pedal is at it's lowest point.

- if you dont dismount you left foot when the pedal is at it's lowest point you start doing the horse-bobbing-dance though

Nice! The one cyclocross race I did between my last season in Colorado (2001) and this October was the Texas State Cyclocross Championships.

Since CX in Texas is just, well, silly, I decided to race in costume. On my Cross-Check, fixed.

I agree with you that dismounts/remounts are not as hard as I had thought, but it can be a bit of a challenge to catch the spinning pedals!

I was threatened with disqualification for riding fixed. Not sure what happened with that...

Anyway, welcome, and congrats on the win!

Hah sounds great and thanks.

The commissioners weren't to happy with me riding brakeless either so i was told to put on a pair of brakes for my next race, i didn't get disqualified though.
