<p>are you using the lockring that came with the 11-28 cassette? if you're using the one from the XT cassette, and it had a 12t low cog, that might be your problem - if it is, you just an lockring for an 11t cog.</p>

Did you adjust the H/L limit or B screws (6mm between top pulley wheel and largest cog) when you swapped cassettes?<br />

It sounds like either a crimped cable/dirty housing, a bent hanger or misaligned limit screw, but the kicker is that the shifting improves with the XT cassette.<br />

What about the chain? Did it wear with the XT cassette? I have a old SRAM 11-28 cassette and 1091R chain that will only work when paired together and nothing else.<br />
