Are the Red Wind CX wheels any more than the 1's?  Then, at least you'd know the bearings had a fighting chance.  Vaguely related I have a set of normal Campy Khamis wheels that I have been using for commuting for 2 years regularly (including a Maine winter), and a mostly road wit a bit of commuting the 2 years previous.  I have had no problems with the bearings at all.  But Khamsins are pretty much the same as the Racing 7s, only a different lacing pattern.

Hope that helps.

Well, The Racing1 and 3 are not made in a CX vesion, and the RedWind cost 3times what Racing1 cost.

Kamsin (among other of the cheaper Campa) are, like Racing7 and 5, also made as CX models with doublesealed bearings for ekstra protection agianst sand and mud. But not Racing 3 or 1, no'r Campa's beter models like Eurus.

Thats why I ask.

I just use regular ol' Racing 7's (not the CX version). Used them for two CX seasons, road, Muskingum Madness (47 mile MTB ride), and other MTB trails. Bearings seem to be holding up great. And sometimes I'm not the best at cycle maintenance.
