Folks, how do you feel about the ranking systems out there? Do you think they're good, bad, or are you ambivalent about them? Do you see a need for them in our sport? If you follow one of the ranking systems, what do you use the data for?

I use crossresults. The USAC rankings are bunk.

Crossresults isn't doing anything we weren't doing before they came out. They're just more accurate and take less time than Google stalking the entire pre-reg list. And I think they would be a great way to stage riders.

I just discovered Crossresults because a local rider in Southern Ontario submits all our finishes to the site.

It's a novelty at this point, and part of me feels that rankings for Masters racers can suck the fun out of the sport. But the part of me that sometimes lines up in the back row likes ranking systems that at least go part way to making sure the faster riders are up front where they belong. The current set up here is registration order.

As someone who is considering doing a few races in the Verge series next year, it's nice to know Crossresults will likely have me behind guys who are faster and ahead of guys who are slower!
