I second the Shimano hubs. You can get a Reflex/Ultegra wheelset for about $400. I think Colorado Cyclist has them. They're not high-zoot or super light by any means, but they're a durable workhorse wheelset.

Hub budget is hovering around $200-250. I always lean toward durability over weight but obviously getting something that's light-ish would be sweet.

The King Classic Cross looks superb, but they're basically double my budget.

My Tiagra hubs aren't fancy or light, but at $70 for the PAIR. . .
$300 in parts (retail) gets a Tiagra wheelset with Major Tom rims and 14/15 spokes. Two sets of those babies with tires on both for the cost of a set of DT 240s built up isn't even a question for me. But that's my budget and my less-than-obsession with weight. YMMV.
I think Shimano still offers a lot of bang for the buck when it comes to hubs, and they'll work with a sram group. I bet an Ultegra or 105 hubset would work great for you. There are some good pre-built options too that could be cheaper (but maybe not quite as good) than building from scratch.
For a little more dough, DT makes nice hubs. King makes the best by far, but you pay for what you get.
