Here's my challenge... I want a reasonably priced rear wheel that I can swap out between my 'cross and road bikes. The wheel will be strictly for training, and, of course, I would change tires.  I have a new Powertap and want to build up a wheel that light, strong, and not too expensive.  What about a Mavic Open Pro rim, 32 hole, DT spokes?

Nio30 hoop weighs about the same as an OP, but will be stronger and slightly aero.
The Sram S27 AL Comp works great both on road and on the cross bike. It's laterally stiff and uses silky smooth bearings. I believe a wheelset retails for $500.

How much do you weigh and what spoke count? I'm liking the Kinlin XR-270 on the road, and the light and wider Velocity A23, both of which are pretty inexpensive.
