Major Tom Tubular Rims with Shimano 5700 Hubs and Skewers
I built them up for a practice wheelset, realized I like riding my racing wheelset 100% of the time...soooo. Yup.
They are a 2x pattern front and rear with alloy nipples. Reasonable weight, durable! 250$

2x refers to the number of crosses. Generally, more crosses is stronger than less crosses. MTB wheels are usually 3x. Touring wheel for hefty folks are 4x. Radial-laced wheels are 0-cross.
I understand that, I've built some of my own wheels. I also understand that depending on spoke count there is typically an ideal lacing pattern or two that provides the best balance of strength, durability, manipulating the spokes while assembling, etc. I guess I wasn't as clear as I could have been.
For instance, you wouldn't want to do a 4x pattern on a 24 hole rim.
You usually see 2x on 24 and 28 hole rims. 3x on 28 and 32, 4x on 36+, etc.
So my ultimate question is: spoke count f/r?
