I have an older (2005) mavic scc clincher set that I'm thinking about attempting tubeless conversion. Has anyone tried this and is there specifics I need to know about...The goal is to mount specialized Captian CX tires...All help willl be welcome...

You "probably" can do it.  But, check this article for a good list of tires that will be more compatible for your use.

The captain tires have a very loose aramid bead. Not kevlar, so keep a close watch on running those lower pressures. As for the rim itself it is taller in the sidewalls so it can handle most tires. Do read that article! It is Great.
