This may be a dumb question but I'm going to go ahead and ask it anyway. My 'cross wheelset uses Open Pro rims which are getting a little long in the tooth and will probably need replacement soon. I'm thinking about Velocity A23's as they sound like they'd be good for the application and aren't really any heavier than the OP's (does anyone have actual weights?) but lateral clearance between my chainstays is pretty tight. With a 34mm Clement PDX mounted to the OP there's only a couple mm's of clearance between the knobs and the stays. How much does a wider rim (23mm vs. 20mm) affect tire width at the tread and will I be pushing that limited clearance? Does it actually make a practical difference at all?
Thanks in advance for the help!
