Last weekend at Cascade Cross ( http://cascadecross.com ) I took this photo:

It was one of those moments where everything works together in a serendipitous way. The timing, the alignment, the look.

Her foot is just barely off the ground. The cranks are in the same position as her legs: left down, right up.

The bike is perfectly straight. In the larger sizes of the photo, you can see equal parts of the rear brake holders. The saddle is perfectly aligned with the bars.

She's looking intently forward.

There's a hint of ballerina, yet the pointed toe is an MTB shoe and there are splotches of dirt everywhere.

It's human and machine. It's peace and exertion.
