I'm in Portland for the week and was thinking of doing the crazy west hills ride where you follow the Flandrian lions. Do any locals know if all the lions are maintained throughout the year? I don't know the area and would easily get lost without them. Also, I scouted the route just a little and noticed that there are numbers (1,2) painted under some of the lions. What do the numbers mean?

Yeah I've already looked it over online. I don't want to carry a cue sheet with 100 turns. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
load it on your smart phone or GPS device
The Lions are pretty darned well marked now, for sure. The (1) and (2) I think only happens in one place -- you pass through an intersection twice in fairly close succession after a hill repeat. Do (1) first, then (2). Or keep doing (1) ad infinitum for bonus points....it's an AMAZING ride, you're in for a real treat, and you're never far from civilization, but you sure feel like you are!
Cool, thanks! Looking forward to it.
