Three of my roadie friends and I have bought cross bikes. Can someone help us find an event that is challenging but suitable for new crossers? It would be best if it were in the south east as we live in the Orlando area. Florida just doesn't have the terrain that other states do. Maybe an event that attracts serious riders, but has room for rookies?

Hey, great move on the cross bikes.

As far as racing, there won't be anything until November/December when the season starts. You'll find some great racing in Georgia though if it's worth the drive for you. The Florida race scene is VERY beginner friendly. The fields are pretty small and you see the same folks at each race, so it's pretty easy to make friends, unlike the standoffish road race crowd.

One cool thing is that since none of the mountain bike trails in the state are very gnarly, you can ride your cross bike on most of them. Try Santos, Croom or Flatwoods.
