I am ordering a bike that has this brake system on it. Would love to know your thoughts on the brakes. Are they much better then the mechanical brakes?

Are the hoods crazy in a bad way or are they just unusual?

I've noticed them on the pictures they look taller then the regular hoods.

Much smoother than the mechanicals I test rode.  These hadn't been fully set up they had a bit too much pull on them but they were very nice.  

I'm guessing some might not like the hoods, they are really tall, but again maybe they'll be useful as bar-ends on steep climbs.  When I rode I was able to comfortably put my hands in the same position on my other bikes, but the hoods were tall enough to grab on their own.

I''m planning on picking up the Crux next week so it wasn't odd enough to change my mind.
