I only have experience with the Kore Race Plus brakes (came stock on my last bike). They do a decent job (especially for the price), they're easy to set up and fairly light at 130g/wheel. The stock pads suck and switching to kool stop pads really helped with breaking. After a few months I switched over to Avid Shorty Ultimate, and while I did notice an increase in stopping power, it wasn't nearly as much as I would have liked for the price difference.
I hope this helps
That's pretty much what I would have said. I've not run the Kore brake but based on their price point and long lever arms they seem pretty nice.
David, are you running the Avid's high or low profile? Low profile is going to give you a lot more power (and more adjustability of that power) at the cost of less clearance.
Kool Stop salmon pads are a *great* upgrade.
