I'm moving out to Oz in a couple of months time and had my first season cx in Ireland last year.
Irish courses tend to be pretty muddy with occasional paved bits, in around forests and ground can be pretty slippy. Or else it's full on peanut butter glue type mud.
So my current setup is pretty much for mud, as anything else is the exception! Running tufo cubus on some 303's.
Having a look at some vids and things from CX races around Sydney it looks to be pretty dry, maybe sandy, loose over hard type thing. What sort of tyre profile works best for this type of surface?
I have some racing ralph ht tubs that I got free with a bike I got that I was going to use this year in earlier drier races, but perhaps they are not suitable at all? Best to sell them and get something else?
Looking for some advice,
Racing Ralphs work well I use them (clinchers) on both my mtb & cross bike around sydney. Your description is pretty bang on, with rocky thrown in.
I'll check it out! Looks like the CX scene is definitely starting to take off. Is there much racing in summer season?
I should be based in Sydney so will check out that link too.
We held a summer series last year on Saturday mornings, and hopefully will this coming summer too. Ideally I'd like to find a course close enough to the city so we can run a mid-week twilight series.
