Possibly using one of these for a first cross wheel build( will be used in Iron Cross race...needs to be VERY durable!) Thoughts....

Looks like my reply never took - I blame my iphone!  Anyway, I don't have experience with the HEDs but I suspect that if you build either rim into a sensible wheel for your weight, riding style, terrain, etc., it will be plenty durable.  I have a set of wheels built with the A23s and I like them just fine although the brake track is a little narrow which makes adjusting the brake pads kind of challenging.  Otherwise, they're much cheaper than the HEDs and the guy who built my wheels experienced no issues in building the wheels round and true. Also, so far I haven't noticed a night and day difference in my tires performance with the wider rim but you may?
