Howdy all. I have an 853 Voodoo Wazoo that helped me race my first cross season last year and want a nicer fork for it. The cheap steel fork that's on there is from "chattertown." Want something lighter and stiffer.

I like the look of a straight blade fork and would love a used Wound Up fork or similar. Carbon, alloy, or steel 1" steerer is fine. Frame is a 56cm and I need around 8+ inches of steerer. I'm poor, so on the cheaper side would be nice. Hoping to spend less than $200. Not interested in Winwoods, etc. I'm located in Chicago. Thanks.

Go to bikenashbar.com and pick up a carbon one for $139. If you buy it during one of their many 20% off everything sales, you can pick it up for around $125. I got one. Looks and rides great!
Check out www.waltworks.com, I have a fork that he made for my Bontrager MTB with 1" steer. I have ran it for a year with no problems and he is great to work with. He answered my email on a Sunday. I know it's more than your price range but I think you would be happy with the workmanship.

From his site "Rigid forks cost $220 if purchased with a frame, or $260 if purchased alone. All configurations of steerer tube size (1" or 1 1/8"), length, rake, and brake setup are available at no extra charge. Any color is available when purchased with a frame, standalone fork purchases require a $50 upcharge for any color except black."
