My girlfriend would like to give CX a try after watching me do my first season last year. We just finished up building up her first road bike last season, so the cost is keeping her away. I am looking to find a frameset that I can swap most the parts over come fall. If i dont find anything, I might have to resort to the dreaded nashbar POS. Something old and beat would be perfect. Her road bike is 54 square, so something along those lines would be good. I would have to keep this under 300 or so.
Thanks!

Actually the Nashbar Steel Cyclocross Bike is not a bad deal. It sells for $900 and is frequentlt discounted another %20.
If you can find a Pake C'Mute in 54c they are a pretty good deal at around $200, you'll then need a headset and fork. But putting a bike together can get expensive fast before you know it you will have spent another $300 on that $300 frame. I'd pony up another $300 and find a complete used bike like Kenneth's.
Are you still looking for a frameset? I have a 2007 Redline Conquest Team cyclocross frame w/ Reynolds carbon fork Size 54. It has a few paint chips and a little chain suck marks but no dings or dents. Comes with Salsa Liplock clamp. No headset. It's yours for $250. Let me know.
If Sean isnt interested, I would be to build one up for my bride
I think you have dibs. Shoot me an email koktosen at yahoo dot com and we can discuss details.
