Not seeing much activity on here - are folks hanging out somewhere else?

Anyone got any pointers on training or non-street rides in NYC?

I've been messing around in Inwood, Highbridge (seemed a bit much to me for cx bike), and Wolf's Pond. I hope to head out to Cunningham Park soon.

Also, I'm not familiar w/ the area outside of the city, was looking at the race schedule - what's the closest or best race to check out (as a viewer)?

I told a couple people on here that I would let them know when the Rutgers CX clinic was coming up- it's a cheaper/closer alternative to some of the bigger/longer clinics if you're on a tight budget, especially since it's only an hour by train from NYC!

Hope to see some of you there!

What has to happen to have more races here? I'm pretty new to NYC so forgive me if this hourse has been beaten.

I know about this time last year we were talking about cross practices and potentially a race on Randall's Island. Anyone have any further info on that? Seems the calendar is kind of light so far this year.

I know some folks are working on a race in Westchester, but not sure of timing or if it will get off the ground this year.

Anything else really close by?

Hello fellow NY Crossers,

I'm looking to put together an informal cyclocross practice night in Brooklyn. I have a great spot picked out in Bay Ridge. There's some single track, stairs and lots of open space along the South Shore bike path. I'm hoping we can get a few people together, drag out some homemade barriers, and have a good time suffering together. Maybe a few post practice brews as well.
Hopefully this will start next week. I'll post more details shortly as I sort them out. NYC tri-state Cross training/races?tag:cowbell.cxmagazine.com,2009-08-17:1198434:Topic:358792009-08-17T15:56:26.320ZMolly Hurfordhttps://cowbell.cxmagazine.com/profile/MollyHurford

Hi all, first post. I just tried Cross racing for the first time at SpectaCross at the NJ State Fair a few weeks back. Since then I've been obsessed with preparing for the upcoming season. So it may be too early to say I am "hooked", but I am definitely interested in continuing to test the murky waters of Cross.
I see plenty of races about a 2 hour drive from me in the upper Hudson Valley of NY, lower New Jersey and central Connecticut. I've found a few a bit closer (1.5 hours or so), but would love to get involved on a more local basis.

Staten CX is appealing, but late in the season. Now that the calendar is updated on BikeReg and here, I saw Empire CX on Randall's Island advertised, but was unable to get any further info (the link on the calendar takes you to the Whitmore info). Randall's Island would be a 20 minute drive for me.

Are there any groups out there doing training or races closer to my home base (Westchester County, NY, Southern CT, Northern NJ, NYC)? I'd like to get as much discipline specific practice in as I can, since right now, I have a giant learning curve in front of me. Hey guys,

Hidden Valley CX is a Thursday night series abotu an hour west of the city, in Vernon, NJ. I'm planning on attending all but one of the races (work conflict) and would like to know if anyone else wants a lift out there. I'm normally off on Thursday so you will have to get to Hoboken... not sure what time I'm going to head out but the first race starts at 6:15 so 4PM departure is likely. I don't think Ray (the promoter) has secured a USCF permit due to his constant battle with the NJBA, but that doesn't mean you can't attend his races and get some great training and CX experience. The races run every Thursday from September 4 to October 9
