"It even looks like nobody will even be offering a decent cross bike with canti's anymore."

I've seen a few, how about this one (been riding one since 2000:

Or, better yet, talk to this guy:

I too am getting really tired with the whole disc brake thing, but then again I'm not going to buy them in any case so I won't pay attention to the marketing.  I just think they are more trouble than they are worth for cross, but everyone has an opinion...

If it makes you feel any better Surly, I recently built up another Ti cross frame with cantis.  This one is a singlespeed, but with a belt drive.  I can only imagine how you feel about belt drives:)

Actually Surly, I believe you "can't stop won't stop" advertising with cantilevers, but from what I hear disc brakes are so amazing you can stop anything.  So if all else fails, drink the kool-aid, buy some discs for your SS rig, and then you'll be able to stop the advertising.  Got it?

On a different note, come race the STXC races this THURSDAY (May 2) at the Ithaca Jailhouse Trail.  www.IthacaSTXC.blogspot.com  All the cool kids are coming, from what I hear.

Is it just me or is anyone else tired of the non-stop cross-disc-brake marketing? I feel like I'm having that crap crammed down my throat on a daily basis - and those sharp rotors are giving me a sore throat. It even looks like nobody will even be offering a decent cross bike with canti's anymore. Is that because of the overwhelming demand (?) by all the people that have never tried the stuff, or is it all about forcing the market to buy new gear and improve bike and wheel manufacturer's profits? The thing that finally put me over the edge (today) was the introduction of hydraulic disc brakes for single speed cyclocross bikes. They cost more than my SS frame and fork! And that doesn't count wheels and rotors!
