Well, I was supposed to hit up McLaren for my first NorCal race of the season but that didn't work out so next Sunday will season debut. While I have spent more hours than I'd like to think about cheering on my daughter at her various softball tournaments held at this fine educational institution, I have not yet had the honor of wanting to die in that special way that only cross can make me feel.

So, anybody care to clue me in on what type of terrain I should prepare for? I'll bring a few freewheels but would like to get it pretty close to start with.

Thanks,
Geoff

Yes, I'm bringing a costume.

It is pretty much flat. There is usually at least one run up and maybe a "lump" or 2, but no real climbing. Last year there was a bit of grass, but it wasn't deep. Gravel "road", dirt, grass, sidewalks.

I never took it out of the big ring last year, so the easiest gear I used was probably 46X23. There are a few things to grunt up and around, but for the most part I think you would want a tall gear.
+1 on all that geoff....look me up at the team oakland tent.
Thanks for the tips guys, I'll definitely stop by and say hi.
