Are there any disadvantages to converting a road wheelset for sscx? I have a set of C-4 wheels laced with Sapim CX-Rays to Alchemy ELF/ORC hubs. Spoke count is low though at only 20/24 (I weigh 155lbs). I'd like to save some money on my new build by running this wheelset but will I regret it down the line?

Any Wisconson SS'ers know what gearing you are planning on for the nationals course this year? I'm guessing with the anticipated amount of snow up there it will be slow going...

I'm looking to do some SS CX races next season and have a couple questions:

1) I want to use my standard cross wheels, instead of a dedicated single speed wheel. Can anyone recommend a good rear hub SS conversion kit? I know Surly and SSK make them. Anything else out there-- preferences, gripes, etc.

2) what gear set-up are you using? I did a little research and it sounds like people are all over the place on this? I suppose this may be one of those things that you won't know until you start…

Hi All,

I pre-ordered the Zona All City NB frame, but now I'm having worries about the sizing. I'm 6'3" and have a 34" inseam. On a road bike I ride a 60cm Cannondale CAAD 10. On the All City Nature Boy, do you think a 58cm will fit? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Hey everyone,

It's looking pretty likely that I'll be moving to the Netherlands this summer for the next 3-5 years, but I realized that I have no idea whether or not there is any SS 'cross scene over there. Anyone have any experience, knowledge, or resources about this?

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for sharing your latest builds. I think I'll go with a custom made steel frame... but nothing too crazy in terms of price. Any suggestions on a value oriented builder for a ss cross bike?

Also, how do I get started with wheels? Any suggestions on a relatively inexpensive bombproof build including where to find? It's hard to gain info just scanning the web.. .mostly 'track' wheels pop up... with a mention they may last a season of CX...

What materials do you see in Single Speed CX bike frames? Have you seen any good steel or titanium builds? In some way I love the thought of a SS CX bike that costs either much less or more than it's geared cousin. Have you seen anything creative?
