Lots of variety out there, I've seen custom steel from Peacock Groove, Shamrock and Vanilla, have also seen beautiful Ti frames, in addition to Felt, Raleigh, etc. On the flip side, I've seen guys run very inexpensive frames, one friend even used an old Univega frame he found in the woods. He had good success with it.

I've run 853 steel, have a Kona Major One currently, which I enjoy much more than I thought I would. Stiff, fast and comfortable.

Tons of options out there, only limited by what you choose to spend. Truth be told, the cast off Univega is about the most creative build simply due to circumstance, but beyond that,nothing out of the ordinary with all the material and drop out options available these days.

I have just finished building up my SS CX bike here in Australia. I had a frame custom made by Tarn Mott of Primate Frames and it is a beautiful machine to ride. The frame ended up at around $2000 including a custom made stem. I used Ritchey carbon forks, bars, seatpost, Phil Wood bb and hubs, Chris King headset, SRAM brake levers and TRP Euro X brakes so there was more money spent on componentry I would imagine. Too scared to look at all the invoices. Has truly been worth it though as it is a great machine to ride. Anyone know of a super-fringe all carbon SS CX frame? I'm shopping for one for next season.
