One of the first races at PIR in Portland around 1990

Mud so thick no one could ride this slightly down hill run out of the race start. I think i am second from the right.

Okay, now I'm recognizing the terrain. Pretty sure this is now routed up to the finishing berm on the moto course (out of view to the right of the photo frame).

Sadly, only the A's got to utilize the moto course during yesterday's PIR Crusade -- and they only got one rhtym section before being sent back out into the field again. Still, the mud was glorious and I'm only sorry it waited until the last race of the series to show up. A truly fun race.

This picture was taken at Portland International Raceway.  There was and is a huge infield where, motocross track, trails etc..  Sometimes the race started with one lap around the 2 mile circuit and then into the mud.  I don't know what they do now, but i think they just raced there this last weekend.

Nice bit of history there! Pier Park? Sauvies? Where is this?
