I'm a late-30's e-marketing guru, who lives and loves in the 612. I know bikes -- been working at shops the last 10 years as a seasonal mechanic, and I'm currently in the middle of a framebuilding class/apprenticeship with Paul Wyganowski. I've raced on and off (mostly off, sadly) since I was 15. You may win the race, but I can still kick the shit out of you at Scrabble.
Current Bike Collection:
* 2007 Salsa Campeon -- custom build with Dura-Ace 7800, Zipp 404s, and lots of FSA carbon parts with ceramic bearings.
* 2007 Salsa Las Cruces -- custom build with Ultegra 6600, set up 1x10. Handbuilt wheels -- DT Swiss RR 1.2 rims laced to Chris King hubs 3-cross with DT Swiss SuperComp3 triple-butted spokes.
* 2008 Cervelo P2C. Mostly stock, some ceramic bear swapouts.
* 2008 Surly-Cross Check, built up as a 1x9 commuter rig with a mix of XT and Ultegra.
Currently building two frames in my framebuilding class -- a singlespeed 'cross frame and a singlespeed 29'er frame. Next after that: a track frame.
That I'll Never Compete In, Sadly: Paris-Roubaix
Road: The Hopkins Criterium. Mostly because it's perfectly flat and has four left turns.
'Cross: The Theodore Worth CX. Those stairs are brutal!
Too many to list!
Favorite thing about cyclocross:
That I can show up still shitfaced drunk and reeking of vodka, crash 3 times and finish in the top half of the field.
How long have you been racing cyclocross?
In my third season -- the previous two having been foreshortened by foot injuries.
