Thanks! I think I'll wait for the brake lever option.

I read your article on how to gut a sram double tap, nicely done, but I am curious about a few things maybe you can help. Is the re-building process very hard? What about removing the brake lever you say to "Use a small flathead screwdriver to gently pry open the plastic sleeve that fits over the brake lever pivot. Gently spreading it will allow you to use less force to remove the brake lever pin." does this sleeve go back to normal or is it loose forever and finally, Is this still relevant with newer models that have the reach adjustment. Sorry for the long question. Thanks

He hadn't mentioned it but I posted over at RBR and some people had run into the same issues.

Josh...thanks for the contact info for Donn at Challenge. He is sending me a new tire. I am going to be in Tulsa in December and am going to try to make it to the Nationals. I'll buy you a beer!

Re: Cross-check build.... Yeah I just got it a few days ago and I just started building it up. This is my gonna be my trail-riding-dip-my-toe-in-cyclocross-racing bike. The specs are as follows: Salsa Delgado Rims with LX hubs (something to train on), Ritchey SpeedMax 35C Tires, Salsa Bell Lap Handlebars, 1x9 with Campy Veloce right shift lever and Cane Creek SCR-5 left lever, Ritchey WCS 110 mm Stem, Cane Creek S8 Headset, Shimano BR-550 cantilever brakes, XT rear derailleur, SRAM 970 Chain, SRAM 970 11-34 Cassette, Salsa Crossing Guard, Surly Stainless Steel 42t Chainring and FSA Vero Compact Crankset.

My original intention was to cannibalize most of the parts off my road bike but once I got started I figure why not just go all the way. The gear spread is a bit more then what I need for racing (or so I've been told) but it should be perfect for hitting the local trails in the off season. She may not be the lightest girl at the ball but I should be able to ride her home.

Lawrence is a great community, very bike friendly, it's one of only a handful of cities in the Midwest I could happily inhabit.

Lawrence, Kansas! I thought the background in the La Cruz photos looked familiar. My entire family is from Emporia and my brother-in-law grew up in Lawrence. We have some farmland right outside of town. I use to hate going there as a kid but I miss it now days.
