Blue in Green Mountains

My cross comeback suffered an unoprepared, unpreridden and greasy date with humility. Reality sucks -- things just don't come around as quickly at 50+. So why'm I similin :)

Beaver and Vervecken!

After Vervecken's 1st place finish in the the USGP race on Sunday, I got to chat with him and get a great picture. He's a very nice guy and such a diplomat for CX, bringing the spirit of Belgian cycling to Sun Prairie for a great weekend! It was pretty awesome to have semi-muddy courses each day for the Cat. 4 races at 8:30 a.m. I couldn't help but imagine myself racing in Hooglede-Gits back in 2007 (even though I was in the way back of the field each day).

Rainier High Course!

I have been working on the Course most every night last week switching up a few of the lines and just trying to shorten it up a little and try and make it a little more spectator friendly, I like short fast laps as opposed to long grinders that last for 12 minutes, the lond down hill will be there and dont worry the long climb will be there also!
Two weeks and its on a grudge race with the boys and girls from Seattle!

Sports Nutrition is an Art and a Science

Just mentioning the term “Sports Nutrition” conjures up images of muscle bound body builders in a gym. This image has partially been created by the marketing industry that has portrayed products for weight loss and bulking in this manner. However, the truth of the matter is that sports nutrition is not just for the body builders. It is in fact for anyone who breaths, moves, eats, or lives. It is a lifestyle that leads to optimum health. Sports Nutrition involves what and how we eat, what… Continue

A Stacked Field and Mud in the Forecast

When I checked the confirmed riders list this morning for the USGP #1 in Sun Prairie, I saw there were already 90 registered riders for the Cat. 4 race! I've never seen such a huge field in CX before. Also, the forecast calls for some rain tomorrow afternoon, so the Elites should be pretty muddy by 3:00. Since it's already raining a little this afternoon, I would assume the course is going to be a bit greasy still at 8:30 a.m.

I'm going to go pick up my race number this evening and… Continue

Practice Makes Perfect for Some?

Frame Size?

Frame Size Question??? I'm looking for a cross frame. I rode a 60cm Eddy Merckx road frame back in the 80's. I ride a "Large" Giant TCR-1 road frame now... I'm looking to get into Cyclocross and am having some "Sticker Shock" with the new bikes! I have straddled Trek and Scott Road Bikes and it looks like a 58 is pretty nice... so my question is should I ride a 60cm or go 58 on a used frame?
