Cyclocross Day of the Dead Festival and Costume Race

BEND, Ore - Some people take their cyclocross seriously and some people take their Halloween parties seriously. Now here's what happens when you combine both.

Nighttime clydesdale championship racing (that is human clydesdales - 200lb+ men and 160lb+ women) followed by a dance party with performances by wanderlust circus and Cumbia Band, El Raffa De Alaska at the Deschutes Brewery Warehouse.

Beginners and unicross racing started bright and early the next morning with probably more than a few hangovers in tow at the River City Bicycles Cyclocross Crusade race. Prizes were given to the costumes.

CrankMyChain! Cycle TV producer, Dan Kaufman, stepped away from the camcorder long enough to don a guitar, bicycle and elvis suit but he did manage to strap a camera to Robert Ping's seat post. Why was Dan racing robert Ping's bike when he has a perfectly good Cross Check? Well he doesn't have a perfectly good Cross Check anymore. More on that in another episode. But you can see pictures at the end of the Friday's Cyclocross Super D video.

A good time was had by all except a handful of not-so fancy pants Cat A racers like Molly Cameron who were too good to sport costumes but not good enough to beat costumed racers like Carl Decker and Adam Craig (who actually wore a green suit that completely covered his mouth and nose).

This CrankMyChain! Cycle TV video would not have happened if not for BicyclingHub.com , River City Bicycles http://www.RiverCityBicycles.com, Visit Bend http://www.VisitBend.com The Rebels http://www.myspace.com/rebelsrocknroll and, of course, all the Cyclocross Crusaders http://www.CrossCrusade.com

Thank you for watching and our apologies for all the good stuff we missed or just couldn't edit into this years video. Happy Halloween and Feliz Día de los Muertos!
