USA Cycling used a 500 pound roller to smooth out the deep ruts on the 2012 Cyclocross National Championship Course at Badger Prairie Park in Verona (Madison), Wisconsin

Looks like it was a good idea - it was frozen solid early on. nobody wants to see 2007 Kansas City again. Should soften up and have more forgiving ruts later for the Elite races.
