Have potential deal with triathlete to buy his American Classic 38 tubulars. Having always used Zipps for tri, I am not familiar at all with the AC brand. Anyone out there ever use them for cross? Or know of anyone who uses them... The deal is $600 for the wheels plus newish mounted road tubes plus a spare. Sounds good to me, but only if they are cross worthy. Please add your 2 cents.

ps - my weight hovers between 180-190

Danny, we've been racing cx on AC 38's and 58's for the past 2 seasons, easily 60+ races at this point.  We've had no problems at all.  I'm slightly lighter than you at ~160lbs, but ride like a bag of rocks at times.  Haven't had to true them yet.  $600 is a great deal, I'd jump on it.

Done ... Got him down to $550

Do be honest, I'd spend an extra bit of money and buy Boyd 38mm wheels.  They're cross specific (wider) and you get a full warranty.
