I have been a recreational mountain biker and roadie for years but think I am going to try cyclocross. My LBS suggested the Voodoo Limba as a good fit for my financial and body size restrictions. I don't see too much on-line about them. Anyone care to share thoughts? http://www.voodoocycles.net/08_limba.htm

The company had some problems a few years ago so their distribution seems to be limited, as does the "talk" about them. The Limba frame seems to be pretty light. Nothing super special about it but I'd buy one.
I really don't have any riding experience with it, but I did come agonizingly close to building up a Limba last year. I really liked the fact it's scandium. Some say it is gimmicky, but my scandium Bianchi has a subtle demeanor I can really appreciate. It's truly been the best frame I've ever ridden, a really compliant bike, yet plenty stiff where it counts, and it has real snap to it. Lighter than most steel bikes, and not as stiff as aluminum. Probably also a function of the specific tube shapes.

Anyway, the Limba - I almost bought this frame (as in, I had check card in hand...). The only thing that changed my mind was the Limba's stock fork (seems kinda' cheap and generic), and Cyclocrossworld had the Empella Bonfire SL on sale for just a little more. Though I am very happy with my Bonfire, I often wonder what could have been with the Limba. It has a great all-round geometry, is reasonably lightweight (probably lighter than my Bonfire), and is pretty inexpensive, plus the scandium... Interesting that they've added the carbon seatstay this year. They're still designed by the same folks who did them in the 90's. I don't know the whole story, but their mountain bikes were pretty big when I was in college, then they either folded or they just quit marketing in the US. Almost bought one of their mtn bikes back then, actually.

I guess I'm rambling but in summation - if it fits you go for it, I don't think anyone would be displeased with it. I would have built up the Limba over any other frame in that price range, with exception of the Bonfire SL.
hey gram,

curious what "body size restrictions" you have? care to explain if not too much sharing?
Just referring to my fit. I liked the Poprad but it is a poor fit for my size, the Trek XO1/2 is a better fit but I am not thrilled about the frame....nothing exciting...
Hi Gram,

we reviewed the XO2 and the one part of the frame that is exciting is the monster mud clearance in the back. there's a ton of room back there...a good thing for sloppy conditions. not sure if spokane is as sloppy as seattle. prob not?
I went with the Voodoo Limba. I have attached the picture to my profile. I went with my Mavic Kyserium's off my older Madone and built it with SRAM Rival. It looks super sweet...now I just have to finish paying for it...thanks for the great thoughts. I can't wait!!

Ohhhh. Nice! I really like the seat stays. I don't think Voodoo ever went anywhere. I think they just went more the way of a boutique brand like Elsworth.

Just a noob here, and please don't beat me for asking this, but might he want his saddle and handle bar hight closer to level? Assuming Gram had time adjust everything before snapping the photo.
The set up is per Serrota fit for my road bike. They left extra on my fork so that I can test ride it before final trim. I haven't officially picked it up yet (drat). I like the seat stays too!
