i am a 260 pounder and wondering if i ran wider tires would this help me with not being able to ride at low pressures. if i run lower than 40 psi i get pinch flats but, also i have problems through turns and soft terrain at anything higher. help me please. i know lose weight would help and am doing so but, want to race with out running last lap because of flat tire.

I think some wider tires would definitely help you out. Are you running clinchers or tubulars?

You might wanna email this guy too:

He'll give you some spot on advice.
i ride clichers and now riding 700x30 tires at about 40 psi rear 35 psi front
I'd look at something a bit wider, esp in a clincher. Panaracer perhaps? There used to be an IRC Mythos 45c that would almost be a monster truck tire but would be really nice for you as well.

That's really low pressure for anyone on clinchers. I run 35 in the Michelin Mud 2s and I weigh less than you do.

Specifically what tires are you running?
wtb allteranius horrible tire for cross races but, great for road and light off road
Yeah, you really should run at least a 35c tire. I'm around 185-190 and find a 35c clincher tire @ about 30 psi works great. I bottom out here and there but not enough to pinch flat(knock on wood)
got a pair of Hutchinson bulldogs yesterday and raced on them. Best tire i ever had cornered nice and no flats. thanks for all your help. jeremiah
