I live in the Mid-Atlantic.

What is the most useful piece of clothing that I should have for the upcoming CX season?

I've not ridden a ton in the fall before, so I'm curious as to what you might think.

Gloves
Cycling Cap
LS Skinsuit
A breathable yet warm undershirt
Tall socks
Embrocation
Knee/Leg warmers
A TOWEL

wear what you want, but be able to wipe the course off somewhere other than a friends shirt.
wind breaker jacket
nice baselayer
long sleeve jersey
winter jacket

Do you have a long sleeve skinsuit? can you get one in fleece? I would think back east there, having one might be useful for more than racing since you could wear it as a base under your other gear when its way cold out. I have a set of knicker bibs that are really nice for cold mornings when I ride here. I'm on the west coast too!

hope this helps
The only time i've added something under the skinsuit was when we were racing in wrentham and it was around 20 degrees (not counting windchill) and then i just put another longsleeve skinsuit (last years) underneath...

it is cross...

it is only too cold if you aren't racing hard enough

hence - cross in warm weather makes no sense...
