Is 'cross raced south of the equator, Chile in particular? If 'cross is a fall / winter sport in the northern hemisphere is it a spring / summer sport or do they race when we do?
I'm heading to Chile in late May and I want to know if there is any cx action going on?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

hey chris,

there's cx south of the equator - new zeland had some stuff going on last september (we posted two stories here) and that was their national championships, so if that's any guide, it's a true winter sport over there. I don't know anything about chile though. I'm guessing there's a TON of dirt roads to ride there - and a cx bike with a low gear could be perfect.

there's the trans andes mtb race down there, and chilean riders Martín Flaño and Nicolás Prudencio have won that. maybe they'd know?
Thanks for the info. It would make things easier if my spanish didn't suck so bad.
