Hey all.  My kid wants to try cross this year.  (Yah!)  He has an old Orbea road bike with 24" (507) rims and plenty of frame and brake clearance to fit a 28 or maybe even 30mm tire.  I can not find ANY cross tire to save my life for the 507 bead size.  And there is only one that I can find for a 520 bead - the Intense Micro Knobby 24"x1" or 1-1/8".  I would consider getting different rims but I can only find BMX (single speed) rims.  This is crazy.  What can I do?

507 is a tough size - redline uses a 520 bead size, and i don't think there are any super skinny BMX cruiser tires in that size. I checked the full Schwalbe tire list and they don't have anything that will work.

You can get another bike... either a 26 mt bike (if your kid is tall enough) or you go with the Redline...

or you can? i dunno... i don't think up sizing to a 520 rim is going to help and well - you could always just let him race on dry courses with the slicks on...

good luck

i'm putting a 26" bontrager Race frame into CX duty. and finding a rigid fork to replace the judy on there hasn't been easy - not many decent 1" forks laying around. so we're going with it (drop bars and bar-con shifters - unless i can find some sora's cheap)
