Cyclocross = Convergence of MTB and Road Bike Technologies

The theory is that Cyclocross serves as a bridge between MTB and Road Bike technologies.  Tubeless will gain over tubular and disc brakes over rim brakes.  Cyclocross will force a higher speed of adoption especially given that a majority of CX riders also ride Road.

But despite the differences, two things was clear: Tubeless tires are the overwhelming majority and a very few riders are afraid of a little girth.

In offering one possible solution to the problem, Bruyneel said, “I think it’s time to start to consider some different equipment. If you look at the bikes, they’ve become lighter and lighter, so why not consider disc brakes? They’re heavier, but I think it would be perfectly possible. And discs definitely brake a lot better. I think with the light equipment and carbon rims (regular brakes) are sometimes a problem in the rain.”
