I don't know if the link will work, but here is a great video of the U.S. national elite men's race from cyclingdirt.com. The whole race is compressed into 22 minutes and the commentator did a great job.

Years ago I used to buy cyclocross DVD's off the internet. But now you can actually watch most of the races LIVE streaming on the web. I've also got some good links for the road season where you can watch races live all year long. Try these for 'cross...

The Superprestige series and GVA series are LIVE on race weekends, so check the schedule for race dates. They usually have pre-race coverage starting ~8:30am with interviews and cool stuff, races start at 9am. Oh yeah, it's in dutch so Ik Hoop dat jij veel plezier hebt!

Oh yeah, Christmas holiday is one of the busiest for 'cross in Europe. Something like 13 races in 3 weeks possible

Hopefully none of us are hibernating yet John, now we can all follow the cross races coming up in Europe! Do you know of any sites where you can watch the European races? There are always Youtube links, but I don't speak Flemish or Dutch so the commentary is hard to follow... It doesn't help that I only recognize Nys, Stybar, and Niels Albert. Looks like Catie Compton is the best women cross rider in the world right now, hopefully now that the U.S. season is over there will be more U.S. men over there than just Jonathan Page to help Catie represent. Hopefully Ryan Trebon, Tim Johnson and Todd Wells will light it up over there.

Jon C.
Figure out your price range, then try to ride as many bikes as you can in that range, in your size. They all feel different.
I made the switch to a 29er this year after years of riding a full suspension mtb. Being taller it seems to fit me a lot better than a 26" mtb. But I did get a custom frame, so that probably has a lot to do with it. If you need any help shoot me a email, I love helping other people spend their money on bikes. :)

MTB racing will for sure help out your bike handling, and the same goes for CX racing helping bike handling skill for MTB racing ; )

Jon, Shoot me an e-mail and we can talk about options for Mountain Bikes. But piggy back on what Joe said, just make sure you support a local bike shop!
