I'd define Barry-Roubaix as a road race. Certainly for many racers, you'll be employing road race tactics by forming into groups and running pacelines. However, the difficulty of the dirt road will give it a mtn bike twist as well so that you'll race your own individual race at times.

If you've only ever raced cross or mtn bikes, it's a way to see what it's like to jump into a road race type event and work a paceline.

Go to the race and you'll see what I mean. ;)

A CX bike is the perfect ride for this event!

The Barry-Roubaix looks interesting Joe. It looks like sort of a road race, but not really?

I'm riding my CX bike all winter long, prepping for Barry-Roubaix on March 27th.

Good job to everybody - and as Jeff pointed out, it's great to see everyone excited about CX here in Michigan. We've pretty much doubled the members in this group over the season!

My season's done but is anyone else planning to go to Nationals? If so, would love a little recap when you get back. That's definitely going to be on my to-do list over the next couple seasons.

Great job this season Jeff. I had fun yelling at you all season!

Hey guys...just wanted to say it's been great hearing all your stories this season. I typically don't post much but it's great to hear how excited everyone is about 'cross here. I've been racing 'cross 13 years and still love it just as much as the day 1!

For those that don't know or weren't able to stick around.
I have video of the State Championship Trophy presentation on my blog & footage of lap 1 off camber section of the masters/elite women/ss on our team blog

that should say, "...couldn't even grip my handlebar"

I sure wish I could have kept racing... I only got about a 1/2 lap in and went down pretty hard - I ended up messing up my right hand, I could even grip my handlebar. I went to urgent care and it looks like a bad sprain, I have to go see a specialist to rule out any ligament damage. My thumb is basically useless... Sucks.

The course looked really fun! I wish I could have hung out with you all at the after party...

I posted my brief race recap on my blog...

It was a fun race and a very interesting course.

I am bummed that the season is over, but I learned a ton at every race and now I know MANY weaknesses I can continue to work on between now and Sept 2010. I can't wait to do the Tailwind races and the Mad Anthony again and I want to add the Ice Cross next year too!

State Champs weekend never disappoints.

Echoing the sentiments from Jon & Curt, the course was super fun. That greasy off-camber corner provided lots of entertainment - including my 2 wipeouts -lol! Ironic how the that off-camber turn ended up being the big highlight of the day instead of the Orange Crush.

Congrats to all racers & congrats to all medal winners!

A HUGE, HUGE message of thanks to Robert & Tailwind, all the volunteers, Joe Brown for his course design (& sick sense of humor for that off-camber), Andrea, Hans, and Steve for all the great pics, and all the bike shops that sponsored races this year. And lastly a big THANK YOU to all the families and friends that come out weekend after weekend to cheer us all on.

Also thanks to Joe Lekovish & Mike Flack (Trails Edge) for organizing the small Growler series of CX races, as well as Rick Morris for his, and his volunteers, work on the Ice Cross & northern CX races in TC, and Rick Plite and the Kisscross CX series!

Btw, Gary, how is your hand? It didn't look very good when you walked out yesterday.
