That's a good one, Curt!

That first 'cross race is always an eye-opener... Mine was the KTR Double Cross last year. It was tough and I felt like I just got the crap kicked out of me. But after the finish, when I finally was able to breathe again, I realized that I'd actually had a really good time! After that, I knew I was hooked.

I'm sure there are much more colorful and interesting tales about first 'cross races out there... Anyone?

It was 2004 and that was only race (bloomer) I did that year. I got done and I remember my hands didnt work so well from holding the bars so tight, and just feeling like I was going to puke. I sat on a picnic table for a while before I could move again. I think the year before I went to a cross clinic at stony, it was before the race at the west branch parking lot. I did a few spins on the course and my heart rate was out of control. I decided to go ride my bike in the woods that day instead of the doing the race. :)

All I'll say is... if someone's "stuff" is going into hibernation already then they have more problems than CX.

Thanks everybody (especially John and Cameron for the ALL CAPS!). sometimes the fire starts to smolder a bit as we near the end of the season... Just tryin' to keep it stoked!

Curt, I too have some fond memories of Bloomer, it was the site of my first (and only) podium... Third place in C last year. See you all Sunday!

Oh I'll be there with cowbells on! I was more referring to my legs seeming to go into hibernation the last couple of races...

There will be plenty of time to hibernate later. I'm planning on it bar any thing like Swine Flu, or blah, blah, blah. I did Bloomer last year and it was fun - like every race! The little bit of single-track made it interesting. Pretty flat course. With the rain though the worm could turn and turn it into something very very something else again ...

I'm going to Bloomer Park too. It will be my first time there and I am really looking forward to it!
