Now that is funny. Until late last year, I was still running V-brakes on my mountain bikes! The only reason I switched, was that the 29er frames I got, don't have V-brake tabs. And I really have not been impressed with the overall feel or performance of the disc brakes. And I am running Juicy Ultimates. They are much heavier, and when do you need them in Michigan? BTW, how would you mount hydraulic disc brakes to road style brake hoods????? And or how well do mechanical disc brakes work with road brakes? sure does sound like a waste of time to me...

Ozy's post says it the best ... they have brakes? That's spot on dude, wadda ya need em for, exactly? Every time I read an article on shudder or brake squeal I'm scratchin' my dome. Personally I think that if you're braking that hard in a race you're doing something wrong. But then maybe I'm nuts (could be). One thing I'm really not nuts about, though, is seeing pizza cutters (disc brakes) in my face on a crowded run-up. And while I never say never, I gotta think that discs on my crossers is a pretty certain never. Too much weight. Too much brake. And canti-tbs on a cross frame are f-ing ugly.

Just think of all the rims that would be saved by having disc brakes.

CX bikes have brakes? really? what would you need them for?

I'm thinking seeing more disc brakes is going to be a slow transition, since most 'cx bikes don't even have tabs. I guess it depends on which direction the frame makers decide to go - canti studs, disc tabs, or both.

So disc brakes are legal now... Anyone planning on switching over? (I needed to post something it has been a month since my last post) ;)

The short track was a lot of fun. It was a wake-up call though, I'm so out of shape!

Is it september yet? After the short track race, I am really missing cross.

I know little about MTB and nothing about short track... I had no idea we could use cross bikes for the short track event, I'll bring mine along. I'll see what the course is like and decide from there!
