does anyone know if this fork (carbon legs/steel steerer) requires a proprietary starnut/plug?  My fork came with one but have since lost it.  doh!  I'm wondering if any good old starnut from an LBS will work.

thanks in advance!

alpha q's usually come with an insert that you glue in.

however, i'm pretty sure that you can use a compression plug.

you cannot, however, use a starnut with that fork - or any fork with a carbon steerer tube, for that matter.

This is a little late, however as someone that used to work for AME (the original manufacturer of Alpha Q forks before being purchased by True Temper), I would not recommend using anything other than the provided sleeve.  It is 10cm long and designed to reinforce the steerer passed the stem, spacers, and headset into the head tupe.  The steerer tube on this fork is thinner than other forks with the understanding that this sleeve will be used.  I would recommend giving True Temper a call to see if they have any sleeves laying around.

thanks for checking in Glenn.

I actually have the CX 10 with the alloy steerer.  no sleeve recommended.
