What kinda gear
for this type of adventuring, what king of gear would I need to pack or use for packing: for a 2 or 3 day bike camp trip? How affordable is it?

Hey Josh, from what I've read it really depends on your budget and personal preference. This coming summer I am planning my first overnight bike packing trip and am learning all the nuances as well. For me I am going to try a mix of rack-less bags and a rear rack with panniers, mainly because this is what I have.

Something like this... This is just a "rough draft" as I was playing around with the idea. I would like to get a handlebar bag also. Really this is just a test fit for the rack it's still a work in progress.
